Poles do not believe that an honest business is real
In the Eurobarometer research, Poland took the second place in entrepreneurship. In fact, 83% of the Poles take no enterprising action nor do they plan to start a company – as shown by a MillwardBrown SMG/KRC study, released today and performed for the Enterprising Poland Foundation. High taxes, excessive bureaucracy and too much competition, do not inspire establishing a company. As the research shows, 35% of the investigated fear unreliable contractors; whereas the stereotype stating that one has to steal their first million is still popular. The study confirms that Poland lacks a proper climate for establishing a social activity, that the social capital is insufficient and that there is not enough social trust.
Mariusz Turski, vice-president of the Enterprising Poland Foundation stresses the fact that the mentality of the Poles must first be changed in order to convince them that an honest business is possible. Only 5% of the Poles perform economic activity of their own.
